Skills for Care Common Induction Standards: including Moving & Handling, Medication Training & Safeguarding Adults.

Duration: Four Day Course

The skills for Care common induction standards were reviewed and updated in June 2010. Employers have until June 2011 to implement the new induction standards.
CQC Guidance for Compliance, outcome 14 states:

All staff must receive a comprehensive induction that takes account of recognised standards within the sector.

Our induction is a 4 day programme which meets all of the new common induction standards.

The medication training and safeguarding adults aspects can also be delivered as separate stand alone courses, if required.

Participants will be required to complete a workbook throughout the programme to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the standards.

The trainer will assess the workbooks and feedback will be given to employers if required.

Participants will be issued with a certificate of attendance but responsibility to sign off the participant as ’safe to leave’ remains with the employer.

All of the main areas of the induction standards will be explored throughout the 4 days.

Standard 1. Role of the health and social care worker.
Standard 2. Personal development.
Standard 3. Communicate effectively.
Standard 4. Equality and inclusion.
Standard 5. Principles for implementing duty of care.
Standard 6. Principles of safeguarding in health and social care.
